It’s a new month and spring is on the way.  It was light til almost 6 last night and today the sun is shining between the clouds.

Drawing Depression # 13

One of the books I turn to when I’m depressed is Care of The Soul by Thomas Moore.  It’s a bit challenging, but contains a lot of wisdom.  One chapter is called the Gift of Depression, in which he talks about the way depressed moods help us mature and gain insight in our life.  It’s a mood governed in astrology by the planet Saturn that helps us find noble truths to guide us.  I don’t know how true that is, but it’s a good thought, and when I’m well, I can remember that seeking solitude and wrestling with demons can lead to creativity.  Many creatives have depression or bi-polar disorders.  I wonder sometimes, though, if the glory is worth the grief.

Drawing Depression # 12

I mentor children who have been adopted out of the foster care system at Bridge Meadows.  Today I drew a meditation on that work.
